Throwing it back to 2016 at Ravenswing Craft + Zine Fair. I loved this grassroots event at Minto park because it had such great, diverse lineup vendors and attracted lots of locals from my neighborhood! @ravenswingottawa

I remember buying seedlings, eating @themerrydairy soft serve, and singing karaoke with my pal J! My sister Maryanne helped me out at my table so I could enjoy the fair.
.
Ravenswing was a supporter of The Clothesline Project. "The Clothesline Project is a vehicle for survivors of sexual violence to express emotions, their healing process and courageous words for others to see."

Participating in community events has been a big part of my business journey and I have lots of good memories of markets and fairs.

Ten years ago today, on May 1, 2013 I founded Top Shelf Preserves.

I woke up this morning with all kinds of feelings, reflecting back on a decade of self employment, picking and preserving, and the community I am a part of.

This business has been a home for me in tough times. It gave me something to pour myself into, it gave me focus, and it got me motivated to get out of bed in the morning. My business was a doorway that was always opening up new experiences for me and connecting me with new people.

I never knew it would become such an important part of my life when I started out. I'm grateful for everyone who contributed along the way and all the customers who thought that what I was doing was worth it.

I have changed and grown a lot during the process so now I'm reflecting on how to move forward with a greater emphasis on balance.

I'll be posting photos and memories all month long, commemorating ten years in business.
